Fruits and vegetables like citrus fruits, bell peppers, broccoli and spinach are packed with vitamins C and E which help fight off infection. Lack of sleep may decrease production of these protective cytokines leading to weakened immunity.

Stress management is equally important when it comes to supporting your immune system naturally. Chronic stress produces a hormone called cortisol that suppresses the effectiveness of the immune system by reducing lymphocytes – white blood cells responsible for fighting off infection in our bodies.

Harmful habits such as smoking or excessive alcohol consumption should be avoided as they directly impact our immunity negatively by damaging lung tissues or causing nutritional deficiencies respectively.

Incorporating probiotics into your diet through foods like yogurt or fermented foods helps maintain gut health which houses about 70% of our immune cells. This can significantly contribute to strengthening the immune system.

Lastly, staying hydrated is essential for overall health including immunity. Water helps in the production of lymph – a fluid that circulates white blood cells and nutrients to body tissues. The lack of water can lead to dehydration which may slow down these processes and hinder the optimal functioning of your immune system.

In conclusion, supporting your immune system naturally doesn’t require any drastic changes in your lifestyle. It’s about making healthy choices in terms of nutrition, exercise, sleep and stress management on a daily basis. These small yet significant steps will not only enhance your immunity but also improve overall health and well-being.
